Water: The Foundation of our Cities
Water: The Foundation of our Cities
This session will showcase case studies and lessons learned from around the world where urban designers and planners are placing water at the heart of urban design to respond to the climate crisis. Water Pavilion: Virtual Meeting Details (waterforclimate.net) A net-zero circular water future for cities
A net-zero circular water future for cities
The session will discuss solutions for resilient, net-zero and circular water and wastewater management in cities worldwide. Representatives from cities, national governments and the private sector will discuss challenges and opportunities for net zero circular infrastructure systems and governance solutions, while showcasing how urban water and wastewater utilities can play a role in reducing GHG emissions and increasing cost recovery. Adaptation and resilience in urban water: Convergence of water and sanitation and climate action
Water Pavilion: Virtual Meeting Details (waterforclimate.net) With increasing vulnerability to climate change, acceleration of adapation and resilience building in water and sanitation will be crucial to cities thriving in the future. Join us for a high-level roundtable with representatives from government, financing and non-government institutions on the enablers and barriers they face, and the opportunities that climate resilient sanitation presents to accelerate climate action in cities. Adaptation and resilience in urban water: Role of cities and utilities in achieving the NDCs
Water Pavilion: Virtual Meeting Details (waterforclimate.net) With increasing vulnerability to climate change, acceleration of adapation and resilience building will be crucial to cities thriving in the future. Join us for a roundtable with city and infrastructure leaders from around the world on the role that play in contributing to the NDCs and the enablers and barriers they face in adapting and building water resilience in their cities, and hear about the role of tools and approaches, financing and capacity building initiatives in supporting their progression. Adaptation and resilience in urban water: Lessons
Adaptation and resilience in urban water: Lessons from practice
Water Pavilion: Virtual Meeting Details (waterforclimate.net) Climate change poses a risk to our urban environment as well as human and natural systems. While mitigation can reduce climate change, it cannot avoid all impacts making adaptation activities essential. In this session we will present three case studies where cities have utilised adaptation and mitigation activities in urban water to create climate resilient pathways that reduce vulnerabilities to climate change. We will demonstrate areas of opportunity to collaborate and potential barriers to implementation as well as focus on the skills and capacity needed to deliver these programmes. Joint Water Pavilion & Resilience Hub Event: Water Resilience in Cities and the Built Environment
Water Pavilion: Virtual Meeting Details (waterforclimate.net) This joint session between the Resilience Hub and Water Pavillion will begin with dialogues between cities sharing the foundational elements and opportunities for resilience. In the second part of the session, join us for a roundtable with financial institutions, non-government organisations and practitioners on ‘what should be our shared future objectives for water resilience’ and hear about the exciting developments aiming to accelerate action in water resilience. |
