it is vital that youth is involved in dialogue, policymaking, and actions with empowerment for achieving water security, in the Mediterranean region which is the most water scarce region in the world and one of the most vulnerable to climate change and extreme weather events. Through their involvement, youth can comprehend, innovate, and adjust to the complex nature of water scarcity and climate-related challenges.

A panel will bring together perspectives from the Alliance for Water Stewardship, SunFruits Export, the Peruvian Government (national and local) and the United Nations World Water Quality Alliance (UN WWQA), to share how new solutions are being developed among stakeholders (public sector, private sector, local and global) to build resilience to climate change and other water-related impacts in Ica, which could represent a model and opportunity for scaling water stewardship both locally and globally.

The new IPCC report highlights the need to understand the direct human impacts of anthropogenic climate change. Trends in migration, urbanization, food production and land use may be in response to climate vulnerability, and can also serve as risk multipliers in fragile situations. This session will convene a diverse roundtable of specialists who will help to chart a path toward “what we think we know” and “where do we need to go from here”.
